This website and the accompanying Facebook site is a creation of Milford, NH resident and amateur historian, Matt Bowling. A huge thanks to the Milford Historical Society which has allowed use of their archive of photographs for this project.
The website began in 2020 as an effort to document the history of Milford, with a particular emphasis on the 20th Century, through the extensive use of the Wadleigh Memorial Library's Community History Archive.
Matt Bowling is also the author of a history of Palo Alto, California called Palo Alto Remembered.

A Word About the Mission of the Website:
My hope here is to document the history of one particular town, Milford, New Hampshire. But in a broader sense, I also hope that Milford can serve as a kind of "stand-in" to learn what 20th Century life was like in almost any small American town. While some topics chosen for this site are particularly Milford-centered, the majority of the selected topics reflect the broad swath of American life in those years: What was it like to be in a civil defense drill? Or go to a traveling circus? Or get a prescription filled at a small town drug store? My hope is that in documenting one town, I will shed some light on 20th Century life in any town.
